What's with the name?

So, where does "Moses Wade" come from?

Moses Wade is the name of our founder & CEO's 4th Great Grandfather. Moses was born in 1792 in New Jersey. In 1837, he moved with his family to Nauvoo, Illinois. After being driven from their homes by angry mobs, Moses and his son Edwin joined the "Mormon Battalion" for the US Army and consequently walked from Council Bluffs, Iowa to San Diego, CA  - a 1,300 mile trip. Once discharged in July of 1847, he then walked all the way back through the mountains to Utah where he settled for the rest of his life.

The decision to volunteer for the Mormon Battalion had heavy consequences for him. While he was marching with the army, his wife Sally Wade passed away in Iowa while waiting to travel west with the pioneers. This left his young daughter, Minerva Wade to travel alone westward, which she did.

Moses could have stayed and been distracted by the gold rush in California, but instead he kept his focus on his daughter, his faith, and peace in the Salt Lake Valley.

Moses's legacy was made of hardship, faith, loyalty, and a vision of great things and great times to come. He was A humble broom maker, a man who built his home from logs he cut down, a widower, a pioneer, and a father. He was the deep roots of the family line and from him came greatness.

He is also the great-grandfather of Adam's great-grandmother, Minerva Teichert, the great western and Christian painter.  For us, he is a hero for his sacrifice, his example, and his love for doing the right thing, even when it's hard to do.

The best stories in history are made by the quiet, humble, hard working people who pick up the flag, who walk the miles, who make the sacrifices, and stay focused on the right things. We might not make history, but we're going to do our best to write a great story for us and our clients. We hope we live up to this legacy.
